#6 - Automation Flows
Build Automations to Trigger Personalized Sequences
Automations in AudienceSend allow you to create logic-based flows that trigger actions like sending emails, tagging contacts, waiting between steps, or routing users based on behavior. You can use automations to send follow-ups, onboard new subscribers, or segment leads based on engagement.
How to Create an Automation
- Go to the main menu
- Click Create → Automation
- Click Create New
- Name your automation
- Choose whether or not to allow it to retrigger (i.e., should contacts re-enter the same automation in the future?)
- Click Create & Build to open the Automation Builder
Inside the Automation Builder
You’ll be taken to a visual builder where you can:
- Drag and drop logic blocks
- Double-click on any block to edit it
- Connect blocks by dragging arrows from one to the next
Trigger Setup (Start the Flow)
- Double-click the Trigger node at the top
- Choose a List or Segment that the automation should apply to
- Only contacts entering that list or segment will activate this automation
- Click OK to lock in your trigger audience
Filters: Conditional Logic
Filters allow you to run logic based on conditions like contact info or behavior.
- Drag the Filter step into the flow
- Double-click to open condition settings
- Choose a condition type:
- Contact Info (e.g., email, tag, list)
- Engagement (e.g., Last Opened)
- Complete the fields based on your condition
- Click OK
You can chain filters together to create compound logic.
Events: Action-Based Triggers
Events let you trigger flows based on user behavior + delays.
- Drag in the Event block
- Choose from events like:
- Subscribed to a list
- Opened an email
- Clicked a link
- No activity
- Set the wait time before the action should trigger
- Example: 1 hour after opening
- Choose which email to send as a result
- Click OK
Action Steps: What Happens Next
You can define what actions AudienceSend should take once a filter or event is true.
Common Actions Include:
- Send Email
- Double-click to open the editor
- Name the email, write content, click OK
- Event Listener
- Use this to monitor activity (e.g., “if opened within 2 days, do X”)
- Copy to List / Move to List
- Automatically copy or move contacts to a new list at any stage
- Split Test
- Drag in a Split step and set a percentage to divide traffic for A/B testing
- Webhook
- Use this to POST data to external tools (e.g., CRMs, Slack)
- Change Tag
- Add or remove tags based on actions (e.g., “add
replied
tag if clicked”)
Wait Steps: Add Time Delays
- Drag in the Wait step anywhere in your flow
- Set wait time (days, hours, minutes)
- Used for drip sequences, pause before follow-up, etc.
End: Close the Flow
- The final step of any automation is Remove Contact
- This stops further action and exits the contact from the automation
